Oracle: Deck Interviews – The Wild Unknown Animal Spirit Deck

Today’s blog will be showcasing The Wild Unknown Animal Spirit Deck by Kim Krans.  This is a beautifully illustrated oracle deck.  On the surface the meanings behind the cards are simplistic, however these simple reflections to ask oneself can have you diving quite deep into yourself.
New Deck Interview
…5……6…
……4……
…3……2…
……1…….

1. Tell me more about yourself; What is your most important characteristic?
**Hummingbird**
Positive, Enthusiastic, Spiritually Resourceful
Inside the tiny hummingbird resides in endless well of energy and positivity. The hummingbird’s secret is that it has learned where to gather nectar, and it returns to these sources daily for nourishment and rejuvenation. The secret elixir springs from many sources, but usually involves nature, creativity, and exploring spirituality. Follow the way of the hummingbird and you cannot go wrong. Every drop of life becomes sweet, every moment worth savouring.

2. What are your strengths as a deck?
**Bee**
Earnest, Hardworking, Democratic
The Bee personality is a delight to be around, especially when there’s a team project on the horizon. Bees love to work steadily and thoughtfully until the final task is complete. They are sensitive creatures, aware of many subtleties at once. Since they’re artists at heart, they usually add creative details to the overall vision. For the most part they have bustling, joyous personalities… until they’re too tired from all the work… then they gripe. And then sting.

3. What are your limits as a deck?
**Owl**
Abundance, Clairvoyant, Treasures
The owl is a mysterious and otherworldly creature found in folklore from East to West. The white owl in this particular deck is the companion of the Goddess Lakshmi and represents wealth, beauty, and good fortune. When the owl card appears it’s an omen that a boon or treasure is on the way, either in spiritual or material form. With owl wisdom on your side, you’ll “see” and “know” exactly what to do with this boon… how it can further serve your dharma and bring abundance to the world. Trust that the wellspring of treasures is infinite.

4. What do you bring to the table; What are you here to teach me?
**Unicorn **
Reconnecting to higher wisdom or divinity
It’s difficult to see, hear, or think of a unicorn without immediately questioning if it’s real. Did they ever exist? Perhaps long, long ago? The Mind answers, “maybe…” or “it could be…” or “no way.” This very contemplation explains our relationship with divinity, and encapsulates our wavering belief in the Unicorn. We wonder what Divinity is. We wonder where our intuition comes from and if we can really trust it. We think about a higher power and our mind hesitates between yes, no, and maybe. Is it male or female? Does it have a name? Is it just a feeling? The Unicorn card appears and “wakes us up” to curiosity about the higher self and the Divine. It is a card of questioning, exploring, and contemplating the inexplicable. The mind’s eye knows there is something beyond our day-to-day lives, a deeper dimension to our experiences. The mind’s eye reaches and reaches and reaches out to grasp something more. You are the unicorn, and you have begun your quest for answers.
The unicorn and the sixth chakra
It’s no surprise the subtle essence of the Unicorn card resides at the third eye, the exact place from which the unicorn’s horn extends. This center is called the ajna chakra, or “command center.” The ancient yogis believed it to be responsible for intellect, intuition, and deepest wisdom. Some say our two eyes see the past and present, while this third eye peers into the future.

5. How can I best learn and collaborate with you?
**Whale**
Desire to delve deeper, Profound peace, Ancient wisdom
The whale represents profound emotional health and stability. Whale personalities are not afraid of emotional expression or traversing difficult terrain, as they have overcome many challenges in their lives. These experiences have enriched them, giving them stability, strength, and a depth that is rare. Whale energy is usually linked to the feminine forces of compassion and communication. We can depend on whale personalities when all else seems lost, and trust them to be the beacon in our darkest hour.

6. What is the potential outcome of our working relationship?
**Cosmic Egg**
Completion, Harmony, the infinite within the finite
The cosmic egg is the final card in the journey of the Animal Spirit deck, and it represents the unfolding of cosmic consciousness. This state emerges after we have tread the path for quite some time, and through self-effort and grace we experience self-realization. A sense of contentment and oneness spontaneously arises within us, and the veils of our self-limiting beliefs are lifted. When the essence of the cosmic egg has not been activated, we may feel as if we will never “get there,” or that we travel alone, disconnected from others. Even if our encounter with this card is brief, appearing as a momentary glimmer or flash of interconnectedness, it’s potent energy stays with us. It’s through the power of this card that we are reminded  of the cosmic contract written at the beginning – we hold on to life, and life hold on to us. The journey is complete, but it does not end.
The cosmic egg in the seventh chakra
The subtle essence of the cosmic egg resides at the crown chakra at the top of the head call the sahasrara. One of the aims of yoga and meditation practice is to channel energy from the base of the spine upward towards sahasrara. Each of the six lower chakras plays an important role along this journey, and once the final epicenter of consciousness is activated it is said to radiate the light of a million suns.

Overview:  This deck will provide a creative new perspective on things.  This deck is best suited for someone who is interested in doing work involved with spiritual and personal growth.  It is limited in the sense that it is not going to provide the insight for you, but rather guide you to find it within yourself.  This deck is designed to give you something to think about, to reflect on, to question within yourself.  Gently nudging you to your true path.  This deck will provide an opportunity to explore emotions that one may not have considered, or have been willfully repressed; essential to aiding in spiritual and personal growth.

Tarot: Deck Interviews – Tranquil Willows Tarot

It’s been almost a year since focusing on the blog.  In my tarot studies whenever I get a new deck I always do an interview spread.  It just dawned on me I should post them to the blog.  Over the next few weeks / months / whenever I have time I will be uploading the interviews.

This week I’m going to start with my newest deck: Tranquil Willows by Rowan Saille and Tranquility Fearn

New Deck Interview
…5……6…
……4……
…3……2…
……1…….

1. Tell me more about yourself; What is your most important characteristic?
**The World – Capturing the essence of allness. This deck has its unique world. Can be used in many ways.

2. What are your strengths as a deck?
**5 of Wands – Fairness, seeing both sides of conflict. Helping in making decisions. Learning to work with rather than against.

3. What are your limits as a deck?
**4 of Discs – Relating this to the decluttering aspect, the workbook may be cluttered with too much options. Putting things in boxes. Traditional for better or worse.

4. What do you bring to the table; What are you here to teach me?
**2 of Wands – Pondering knowledge, making plans, having a trusted advisor. Helping to strategize internally. Bringing inner power back into balance.

5. How can I best learn and collaborate with you?
**2 of Swords – Balance, easing the mind. The deck seems to insist on meditation and inner journeys to find solutions.

6. What is the potential outcome of our working relationship?
**Warrior of Wands – Assisting in moving forward, especially when feeling vulnerable. Opening of heart and self. Moving with the flow,  discovering where life can take you.

My impression/overview:  Working with this deck can be a positive endeavor. It has a unique view from it’s triangular world. It is traditional to RWS, though the author of the booklet (Luna Blancas) is inspired by several decks to bring together insights into this one.  This is the cluttered aspect that, while it’s good to have differing view points, can become information overload.  I love the triangular shape of the cards.  Along with the cards pulled in this spread it gives the feeling that when I need to make a decision between A and B it may offer a C solution that I wouldn’t have otherwise considered.  The messages seem gentle enough, which falls in line with the “tranquil” part of the name. I don’t think this will be the deck to give me brutally honest answers, but will rather lead me in the direction to find those brutally honest answers within.

Animal Totems: Purple Long Tentacle Anemone

In a dream  I had the other night I owned a series of aquariums. There was this very interesting creature in one of the tanks. In the dream and upon waking I didn’t know it was a Purple Long Tentacle Anemone. I didn’t realize it was an actual thing that existed in this world, as it seemed so foreign, like it was from a sci-fi movie. I used Google’s image search using whatever descriptions I could think of and finally found the closest thing to what was in my dream. I must state I do not have ownership of this image, the link to original is provided below.

In the dream I was psychically connected with this aquatic anemone. I could tell what it was thinking/feeling. I moved it through the different tanks because I was attempting to move all the aquariums. It ate a few of the smaller creatures. It was slightly aggressive, we had to be careful around it, and kept it separate until I decided to move it. Despite its temperament it was usually calm around me. I even carried it around outside of the water in my hand and it’s tentacles would touch my arm and other things around it. Bear in mind, I have never even heard of this creature or knew anything about it at the time of my dream.

The Long Tentacle Anemone, or LTA has a few interesting qualities that can hold significant spiritual messages and those qualities were presenting themselves to me in my dream.

Like an ostrich putting its head in the sand this anemone can completely bury itself in the sand if it feels threatened. This is a reminder to know how to protect yourself. It also shows us to remain grounded. Be firm in our beliefs and convictions. When LTA finds a spot it is happy in it will attach and remain there. This anemone can be difficult to move when it’s happy! Be unbending in your contentment and joy – do not give others control over your happiness. If the LTA is moving its location it’s because it’s not happy. While remaining grounded and firm is great advice on the other side of the coin the LTA tells us do not stay in a miserable situation. We cannot thrive there, move to a place where we can do and feel better.

In my dream we were moving things around to find a happy spot. My LTA ate some of the smaller fish I was concerned about moving and I actually felt quite relieved that the anemone cleared out some of the tanks for me.

The LTA is slightly aggressive and can sting with it’s tentacles, causing mild allergic reactions in humans. In real life terms we should take care and not handle an anemone without gloves. The spiritual message here is to remind us that our words, thoughts, and actions can sting others around us. When we are in an unhappy place we are more likely to lash out at people even if those people are just trying to move us to a better place.

Despite the semi-aggressive attitudes, and carnivorous diet, an anemone lives quite symbiotically with various forms of clown fish. The clown fish will actually share pieces of food with the LTA. This teaches us about living symbiotically with others. LTA provides shelter to the clown fish and the fish provides food to the anemone. The phrase “don’t bite the hand that feeds” comes to mind here. Also, the understanding that we are all very important cogs in the wheel of life and we are valuable to others, just as they are valuable to us. It’s important to create connections with others, even if it’s only with one other person, that trusting connection can help us in ways beyond a materialistic give and take. Think about it this way, the anemone at any point can decide to eat the clown fish, but the fish puts all its trust in the anemone. It’s actually quite beautiful when you think of how these creatures could totally be natural enemies, yet instead they decided to unite and help each other out.

In my dream the anemone and I seemed to have quite a connection and bond. Am I the clown fish? 🙂

LTA have strong personalities and enjoy having their own space. The message here from the anemone is to create space and time for yourself. It is okay to focus on yourself, and it is actually required for spiritual progress to set aside time to go within and to focus on self-care and your own well being. No one else in this world can care for us the way we can care for ourselves. Yes, a clown fish may share a tasty morsel with us and we should appreciate those connections, but if we are not grounded and centered in ourselves – if we do not know what we want or need to thrive – we will become aggressive (or passive aggressive in human terms) and risk stinging those that have come to help.

I held the anemone in my bare hands. This says things equally about fearlessness as it does about carelessness. How I am handling things is something that I need to be aware of.

LTA are typically in shallow waters and they love the light. If the lighting is not quite bright enough they will move to a sunnier spot. They prefer lighter sand and soft substrate. They enjoy an aesthetically pleasing environment. The water quality is very important too. The message from the anemone here is about creating an outer environment that reflects the inner environment of happiness. Look into feng shui. Add more light, paint the room a lighter colour, hang photos that radiate to you. Get outside and enjoy the sun. Sun light helps us feel better. Spending too much time in the dark can cause or add to depression. Drink water, get a filter if you don’t feel the tap water is good enough. Go for a swim, or take a relaxing bath.

Long Tentacle Anemone have a few different colours. Purple resonates with higher thinking, higher consciousness, spirituality, its considered a regal colour. I believe the totem LTA that visited me in my dream was about bringing some subconscious / unconscious things to the light to move me to a happier spot.

On-Going Lessons: August 5 & 6

The other night I was on the phone talking about archangels with a close friend of mine. We discussed whether an archangel can be a spirit guide of sorts or whether they are too busy for our petty human lives. Many people call upon archangels, especially Michael. I have stated in a previous post that I was not always open to angels. These were not things I resonated with. As I’ve been growing, learning, and expanding I more and more see the value in working with these beings.

Several times AA Gabriel and AA Michael has come to me. In several readings I have done for my friend whom I was on the phone with Gabriel has attended those readings, or showed up closely after. In an angel reading I received from an different friend Michael was drawn, then her intuition told her to draw another, which of course was Gabriel.

Through a series of synchcronistic events I came into possession of an Archangel Gabriel oracle deck. I knew as I continued on my creative writing journey that I would want to see little messages from him. Unfortunately, the cards kept giving me repeaters: Daily Practice, Creative Writing, and Journaling. Which I had been adamant to follow, especially getting the Creative Writing from a completely different person with a completely different deck. After the phone call with my dear friend I had decided that I’m pulling out the Gabriel cards to see if there is finally a new message for me.

I received Classes, Creative Expression, and Writers’ Group. Which they all resonated very nicely with me. I have been working on getting out there more, I have attended some classes, and want to attend more (I’m working to get Reiki certification), and the possibility of teaching has come across to me more than once. Creative Expression completely falls in line and a good indicator to continue doing what I’m doing. Writers’ Group… never thought of it to be honest, however it did cross my mind to start a local spiritual support group.
The next day my dear friend whom I was on the phone to the night before posted an article on the Full Moon affecting the zodiac signs. I always take this with a grain of salt, yet I still read them (those nuggets of truth can be found in the unlikeliest of places).

Sorry Sagittarius, the school of hard knocks is calling and you’ve been enrolled. The 2017 Sturgeon Moon and lunar eclipse will be a time of difficult learning for Sagittarius, according to Darkstar Astrology. So, what will you learn while this cosmic class is in session?

“You can work on your communication and try to be more open with what you need to express,” The Dark Pixie Astrology explained. “You may need to share something important, and you can work on being understood and listening more. You can be more mentally active, and you can find the right way to say what you feel.”[1]

While I hated the tone of the horoscope, as it made it sound dire and I was looking at it quite positively, it was totally in line with the cards I drew the previous night. The message of class and expression. Not to mention the sharing aspect, which Spirit pushes me to do endlessly.

To touch on the original topic of why archangels are in the forefront of my mind and the subject of this post. Do I think that an archangel can be a spirit guide? Sure, why not?! So many things are possible that our limited human minds do not always conceive. I also believe there are people that lean too much on the archangels and ignore the other choirs of angels that are there to help, as well as ignoring other guides and totems that assist in this spiritual-human journey. Do not discredit the other energetic beings that are helping and guiding us.

My main spirit guide (I call him my main because I have strongest connection with him) recently told me that he will not be helping me with something. I was looking for messages in regards to a 3rd party personal matter that I won’t get into, but I will say that when I asked my guide to help me he flat out told me he will not be helping me with those kinds of work. He has previously helped me with card readings and other things so I found this very rude to say the least. He explained I had other guides that would help with that and to talk to the angels. It wasn’t even that he couldn’t help me, but that he wouldn’t help me. Thanks.  ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) hah

Dreamwork: Let’s Talk About Sex!

Sex! Who doesn’t like that topic, right? Sex in dreams can be common. It can be great and not so great in dreams. I mean, if we’re dreaming of having sex with our favorite celebrity we don’t even question it! It’s great, it’s awesome, and it’s most likely a result of our subconscious processing the times we consciously look at them and feel attraction.

However, sex in dreams isn’t always so awesome. Sometimes we may be having sex with an ex, a friend, or stranger. If we are in a relationship in the waking world and we have sex dreams about someone other than our partner we may feel weird, or like a cheater. We may even feel violated or confused. Perhaps we enjoyed the dream and feel guilty for that. Maybe we even dreamt that our significant other had sex with someone other than us and we wake up mad at our partner. Who hasn’t been there? Am I right? I know a few husbands – including my own – on the receiving end of that anger.

Nine times out of ten a sex dream is never about sex. In fact a dream is rarely about anything outside of yourself. In the dreamscape the other person is an aspect of you. It could be a realized or denied aspect. Alternatively, it could be an aspect you wished you had. What your subconscious/higher self is telling you in the dream is that you need to look at integrating or accepting these aspects.

Sex, in waking life and in dreams, is about connection. What connection in waking life do you have with the person in the dream? If they are a close friend it could be that you admire them in some way and want to incorporate those traits into your personality. This does not necessarily mean any physical attraction in the waking world. Basically, how you view the person in reality can be a clue to the personality trait or aspect that needs to be integrated. Sometimes you may view that person – in cases of it being an ex – as something negative. Yes, you do need to integrate and accept those negative aspects of yourself along with the positive aspects. Your higher self/subconscious is showing that those qualities are part of you and that’s okay. This goes for sex with strangers in dreams as well. This is about looking at hidden, unknown, and denied aspects which have no other representation except for that of a stranger.

In the case of dreaming that a partner has slept with someone else is a reflection of insecurities and lack of self-worth. You may have trust issues that need to be looked at, including issues in trusting yourself. Keeping in mind that everything in a dream is an aspect of you: the two people you see having sex in your dream are two different aspects that you are so far removed from that you can only see it as a third party perspective. You may be denying those sides, or don’t fully understand them yet. You may have conflicting or contradicting feelings and beliefs in the waking world that your subconscious is working through.  It may show you through a sexual dream how those two aspects that seem separate can actually be connected to each other and to yourself.

Sex dreams are also about processing past trauma. If you have been sexually abused or raped in any form the dreamscape may be a safe place for you to work through the trauma and start the healing process. These can be really scary dreams or nightmares. The fear and terror one can have in dreams like these are all very real emotions. Even if you have never been abused in the waking world yet have a dream of being raped it can feel awful and shake you for some time.

Dreams are a way for the subconscious to process or even “yell” to get us to look deeply into something we have been avoiding. This isn’t being done to distress us, it’s being done so we can heal. Shoving down a situation and forgetting it ever happened is not a way to deal with anything it will come to the surface and ask to be properly dealt with.

Dreaming of having sex outside of your preferred orientation in the waking world does not always point to underlying homo- or heterosexuality. These types of dreams are most likely about integrating a certain kind of energy. Having sex with the opposite sex, whether it’s your preference or not, indicates the need to get in touch with your feminine or masculine sides, respectively. The same goes for dreams of having sex with the same sex. Sex in dreams doesn’t reflect who you have attraction to in real life, it reflects the part(s) of yourself you need to pay more attention to. Those aspects, whether positive or negative qualities, deserve your attention and acceptance. Acceptance of the Self, fully and completely, is one healthy step on the road to integration and healing.

P.S. Sometimes dreams of sexual attraction, infidelity, and homo/heterosexuality can point to those things in the waking world. Though chances are if that’s the case you will know them and will not require a dream dictionary to decipher those messages. Your waking self is already thinking, feeling, or doing those things. If you feel your intuition is telling you those things in dreams it’s because you already suspect something in your waking world. This points to the same message of any sex dream: your subconscious is asking you to look at and accept these things in your life, to stop avoiding and denying them.

On-Going Lessons: Week of July 17, 2017

This was written by me a few weeks ago. Some of you who know me will have already heard/read this . However, being called to share these exact type of things.

Daily practice. Daily practice is sooo important. Whatever it is you want to be good at. Whoever the person is that you want to be. Practice it daily. Even if only for a few minutes of the day.

Be open. Angels – not something that has resonated with me… now seems to be resonating. Being open to learning, to new things. Just because you know something, and have known something for 20, 30, 40 years… there is STILL something to be learned. There are always nuggets of truth and wisdom to be found in everyone’s bullshit. Once you believe you’re an expert, the energy goes stagnant. Be open to things you think you can’t learn from.

I am magical. I am powerful. Those moments where I feel like an absurd whack-a-doo have been some of the times that have proven to be my most accurate. Remember the times of accuracy to remain empowered. Times of error or inaccuracy are there for a learning experience. Nothing is lost or wasted.

There is only the now-moment. Across all time and space, through all our lifetimes, there is only the now-moment. All of it is happening now. We are alive, we are dead, we are the leaders, we are the peasants. We are all of it happening now.

Let go of letting go. Let go of the idea of “letting go.” Getting too wrapped up in whether you are holding on too tight, or getting wrapped up in the “how-to” of letting go… it all just does the opposite. To truly let go is to not even have the idea of letting go, because whatever it is you’re holding onto will have already moved on, hence no need to even think of “letting go.” You cannot release something that you have never even held.

Send reiki to your morning coffee.

Tarot Talks: Choosing a Deck

A conversation happened recently where a good friend was asking about the concept of how tarot decks have to be given to you, that you shouldn’t buy one for yourself. He threw out his deck based on this information he was told. While this old wives tale has a mysterious allure to it, almost a romanticism that somehow makes a deck more special, it is still just an old wives tale. There is an adage to “the deck must be given” and it’s “or stolen.” I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m not becoming a thief to acquire a deck, not in today’s day and age when they are so readily available!

Our fore-mothers, the old wives that made up all these tales, I do not wish to discredit them. There are still nuggets of truths that are valid today, though some things just no longer hold truth, and we need to use discernment in the now-moment.

I have been given decks that I absolutely adore. My first deck, Rider-Waite-Smith, was given to me. I did my best to use and connect with it. However, I didn’t really connect with it. I struggled with reading from it. I had it for a few years before I decided that I want a new deck. I was also gifted Mythic Tarot within this time, and it was without a book, I was lost with this deck and rarely ever touched it.

One day I found the Essential Tarot, a deck by Hansen-Roberts, and bought it on the spot from a local bookstore. I LOVED the artistry on the cards. Beautiful work. It is based on the RWS system, so I was familiar with it, but these pictures *popped* for me. I also enjoyed the accompanying little white book that came with it.  I used these cards with great success for the next decade.

I have since moved on from using the Hansen-Roberts deck. I picked up the RWS deck again and use it with much more success than I ever have. I have over two dozen decks now, half given and half I purchased by myself for myself. The ones I tend to connect with the best are ones I have been able to pick myself. This isn’t a truth across the board. I have picked decks that have ended up being a flop. I have also been given decks that have worked fabulously.

My point here: you do not have to be given a deck – or steal a deck – in order for it to “work” or for it to be “real.”

The skill to read comes from the reader, not from the cards. The cards are merely a tool to unlock your intuition. In this day and age with all the different artistry, and even pop-culture based decks, I would say choose a deck you feel you will connect with. It will be much easier to learn from if you enjoy the tools you are using.

Sharing in the Journey

For the past few weeks I’ve been focusing on tarot and dreamwork. This week and last I have taken a break from my weekly tarot and dream blog. Although, I am still fully immersed in working with those things daily. This blog’s intention was to follow my magical and spiritual journey and I haven’t been sharing too much of it.

I went on a crazy ride for the past few years. Especially when I endeavoured to answer the question “what is magic?” To describe magic would take too long, but to sum it up, it’s something that’s felt and experienced. It can be seen with the right eye, can be heard with the right ear, but if those things are closed off you cannot perceive magic in those ways. Magic is available to anyone and everyone.

I have neglected to write about a lot of the magical things that has been going on and that I have witnessed and experienced simply because it’s unbelievable. Some of it has been very personal. Some of it makes no sense. The nonsensical stuff is the hardest to share. I have channeled and connected with spirits that simply talk in feelings and sensations, which I then have to find words for to pass messages along. It’s definitely a process… this spiritual path I, and many others, are on.

Time and again Spirit pushes me to share. With that I will be sharing more in regards to my Spiritual journey itself on top of focusing on tarot and dreamwork.

Much Love & Brightest Blessings,
Phoenix Rose

Dreamwork: Dare to Share

One thing that I came across as a young teen was Scott Cunningham’s recipe* for a prophetic dream tea. I have used that recipe for many years now with amazing results. Sometimes we cannot know the results of prophetic dreams if we are not sharing them. One of my favorite stories, a huge confirmation that some of my dreams have more to tell me than basic dream dictionary meanings is the dream about the freezer and the pizza.

This happened circa 2006-2007-ish. I was attending workshops with my best friend’s mom (whom I’ve become really close with over the years). I had dreamt that I was with her oldest daughter. We were in an apartment cleaning out a broken fridge. She finds a pizza at the bottom of the fridge and says that this should be okay to eat. It wasn’t okay to eat. It was the weirdest thing and we ended up throwing it away.

Fast forward that day to the evening time when I would have went over to their house for the workshop. I tell my friend that I dreamt of her oldest daughter, explain the dream – she’s looking at me wide-eyed – I feel nuts. She said, “Oh my god” and called her daughter into the room to tell me about her morning. Her morning consisted of cleaning up the freezer that had broken and leaked everywhere. She had to throw out a ton of food that was completely ruined. Except for a pizza which she thought would be fine, however it was not fine. She cooked it and it was terrible and had to be thrown out too. Hence why she was at her mom’s house that day, because she and her boys needed to eat.

Another experience, which was not necessarily prophetic, but opened my eyes to shared dreams happened around the same time frame as the dream above. I dreamt I was at a house party. I was with one of my male friends, his girlfriend was no where to be found. We didn’t know why she wasn’t there. My boyfriend at the time was at the party, but seemed to wander off. I went out back, the backyard was really long and lead to a wooded area. I could see my boyfriend down in the woods. I yelled and hollered. I couldn’t seem to get into the woods, I have no idea how he got in there. He looked like he was freaking out, but he wouldn’t listen to me so I headed back into the house to join the party.

I woke up and immediately wanted to tell the boyfriend about him freaking in the woods. As I’ve learned sharing what happened in dreams can result in learning. He cut me off to tell me his dream. He was in the woods. Left from the cabin we were all in. It was something like Evil Dead, I suppose. In his dream he was freaking out because he couldn’t get his way back to the cabin. So, this blew my mind, just how similar those dream scenarios were.  We were seeing the other friends later that day and I couldn’t wait to tell them about it.

I was so freaking excited to share our experience with this couple friend of ours. Like I said, mind blown about the alignment of the dreams between me and then-boyfriend. The male friend, who I was at the house with in the dream cuts me off to say he dreamt of us at the party. Even telling me whose house we were at. Saying the same thing, his girlfriend wasn’t there and my boyfriend wandered off. Holy guacamole! I’m still blown away by this experience. My female friend – the girl friend who did not show up to the party in the dream – says she was dreaming about driving around. That’s all she did in her dream was drive around looking for her boyfriend. Him and myself blurts out, “I/He was at the party!”

I am not sure how, what, why inspired that event to happen between the four of us. From then on, I share my dreams with others, and encourage others to share their dreams with me. I have since noticed other alignments, dreaming about similar themes between people, and stuff like that.

I now keep a dream journal online for the world to see (crazy, right?!)

Tarot Talks: Thinking About Thinking

Something I have learned reading tarot is how important it is to understand that the future is written in sand and not in stone. We have the power of choice in most situations. Yes, there are situations beyond our control – recognizing those situations and letting go of trying to control them is the most liberating feeling. Distinguishing between what we can control and what we can’t control is a line that has not been clearly defined in this society.

What you can control: your actions/behaviours and your thoughts. With the added caveat to controlling your thoughts – you cannot control what thoughts pop into your head – what you can control is what you think of, and do with, those thoughts. Confused yet? I promise it is an easier concept than reading about thinking of thoughts. As humans we are metacognative: the ability to think about thinking. As an observer/seeker stand point, we are able to observe the thoughts that pop in our heads. If we believe those thoughts to be true then our behaviour and physiology follows suit. If we disbelieve the thought that pops in our heads then we dismiss it, no harm, no foul.

Creativity machine: is this where thoughts come from? We have a creative centre in our brain/mind that constantly shoots out thoughts and ideas, especially when we are looking for answers. This can be something as simple as looking for the T.V. remote and our creative centre shoots out the thought, “look under the couch cushions.” This creative centre has no sense of right or wrong, reality or fantasy. It may shoot out the idea that the T.V. remote has been zapped into thin air and no longer exists because you’ve been looking for an hour and haven’t found it. Yet, you know that this could not possibly be true. You couldn’t control that you thought to check the couch or to check outer space, but you could control whether either of those thoughts made any sense, and you most certainly controlled whether you moved your body and checked under the cushions.

Indirect control: feelings/emotions and physiology. We can’t directly control our feelings. Any advice that suggests you get your emotions under check you have my permission to throw that advice in the garbage. Emotions are information and we are meant to feel them, even the uncomfortable feelings that no one actually wants to feel.  They all hold merit and serve a purpose. We indirectly control our emotions through our thoughts and actions (yes, through our very own thoughts and actions, no one else’s!). Physiology is another meter/gauge that gives us information. Our emotions usually need to be processed through our bodies. Such as stress, high amounts of adrenaline is released and our physical bodies need to process it. This is why stress is one of the top causes of death/illness.

WTF does any of this have to do with tarot readings? Tarot helps us to distinguish what we can and can’t control, gives us insight into ourselves, empowers us to take control over our own circumstances, and shows us when to let go. We just need to start looking at readings as messages of divine guidance, and stop looking at readings as a fortune cookie.

What we absolutely cannot control: other people, period. We cannot control what someone else is going to say, think, or do. We can only control how we react to what they say, think, or do (what they think is none of our business, but that is a post for a later time). We cannot control whether they stay in a relationship – we CAN create an environment that will encourage them to stay, but ultimately it’s not our decision. We cannot control how others treat us – we CAN treat ourselves well, with love and respect, as it shows others how to treat us, but ultimately it’s not our decision how the other person acts. Tarot cannot help anyone gain any know-how into controlling someone else, it may show what is likely to happen, but ultimately tarot will only show you how you can take control of your Self.

I will end today’s post here before it gets too lengthy (this is a subject I could go on and on about).
